10. Likeable Personalities
Jeff Chiu/AP/Press Association ImagesAn assumption about the sport is that the fighters who compete in it are a bunch of Neanderthals; dragging their knuckles across the ground as they get a decent sized pay-cheque to do the fighting which they would likely be doing in the streets anyway. Non-MMA fans wrongly suppose that UFC fighters much like their boxing counterparts are all trash-talking, arrogant and baring an unsavoury superiority complex which makes it very difficult to support them. While clearly anomalies do exist, for the most part the beliefs of these naysayers couldnt be further from the truth. From the super-humble knockout-artist Junior dos Santos to the hilariously funny Pat Barry, or the much-adored Wanderlei The Axe Murderer Silva (dont be fooled by the name; hes a sweetheart) and the ultra-classy Georges St. Pierre, the UFC roster is filled with fighters who despite their ability to rip a normal persons head off any MMA fan would love to be friends with. Once you have become emotionally invested in a fighter because they are so likeable, you instantly become eager to watch their fights and become concerned about the outcome. It is this emotional connection which turns you into a real UFC fan.
