Somewhat unfortunately, the Belgian international became the posterboy for David Moyes' disastrous tenure at Manchester United and he seems to have been playing catch up ever since - while struggling to recapture the form he put in at Everton.

He's still a combative central midfielder and a potent threat in the air (he scored four times last season too in just 13 appearances), and he will give a Premier League team good service if that's the way he chooses to go. At 30, he's got a few years in him yet too.
