4. Bixente Lizarazu - BJJ Competitor
Barthez wasn’t the only member of the 1998 World Cup winning team who chose to pursue another sport entirely once their playing days were over. Because when not arguing with Patrice Evra over who was the better fullback on French TV, Lizarazu can on occasion be seen competing on the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu circuit. All of which makes Evra’s attempts to pick a fight with Bixente somewhat foolish, especially given Lizarazu’s early success in the sport. In 2009, after only a year and a half of formal training, he became a blue belt champion in the lightweight division. The following year he added to this by placing third in the purple belt division.
