15 Most Shockingly Underpaid Footballers

3. Mats Hummels

Wage: £45,000

If Mats Hummels so wished, he could have returned from Brazil following the victorious World Cup and demanded a transfer to one of the elite clubs in Europe to double or even triple his salary. The 26 year old centre-back€™s stock has never been higher following some valiant performances during his country€™s surge to the World Cup crown, and has recently been linked with a £47 million move to Old Trafford. The former Bayern Munich reject has stayed loyal to the club that took him in five years ago, however, and has shown no sign of wanting to Dortmund. £45k p/wk is not a wage befitting a centre-back of the talents of Hummels, but one has to respect the club€™s wage policy and their refusal to break it to cling to such stars.
