8. Mario Balotelli - Liverpool (£16,000,000)

Balotelli's time at Liverpool has been nothing if not eventful so far. He's scored just one Premier League goal so far (the winner in a tight 3-2 victory over Tottenham), but has still captured headlines with a series of characteristically oddball incidents. He posted a reportedly anti-Semitic picture on social media, argued with Jordan Henderson over the taker of a crucial penalty against Besiktas, and swapped shirts with Pepe while 3-0 down to Real Madrid at half time. Balotelli's successful spell at AC Milan fooled just about everybody, and his 26 goals (in just 43 games) had fans across the nation clamouring for a Premier League return. Sadly, if his time with Manchester City was characterised by fireworks, this second Premier League stint must be compared to a damp squib. Liverpool fans will be hoping that Super Mario can produce fireworks when it really counts should he stay next season - in front of goal.
