7. Rickie Lambert - Liverpool (£4,000,000)

It's fair to say that Liverpool had a shocker of a season in terms of strikers. Sturridge spent most of the time in the physio's room, Balotelli suddenly became goal-shy, Borini couldn't get off the substitute bench, and Suarez was nothing more than a distant memory. 32 year old Rickie Lambert - a £4,000,000 arrival from Southampton - didn't seem the likeliest candidate to save the day, and (predictably) he didn't, netting just twice in 25 league appearances. While nobody could begrudge Lambert the chance to play for his boyhood club, having painstakingly made his way up the ranks from non-league football, the fact that his dream move coincided with an inevitable decline surprised few.
