15 Worst Premier League Signings Of The 2014/15 Season

15. Ricardo Alvarez - Sunderland (Loan)

A slightly unpleasant side-effect of Sunderland's relegation survival is their obligation to sign "Ricky" Alvarez to a permanent contract. The attacking midfielder arrived to much fanfare from Inter Milan, but failed to adequately replace Fabio Borini in his 13 Premier League appearances for the Black Cats. A sweetly-struck FA Cup goal against Fulham hinted at Alvarez's ability, cutting inside from the right and lashing the ball with venom, but it remained the sole bright spot of an unspectacular season. Sunderland fans will be hoping he can toughen up over the summer to survive the league's physical style.
