20 Best Rangers Players Of The Modern Era

19. Kris Boyd

Similar to Lee McCulloch, Kris Boyd didn't exactly cover himself in glory during the 2014-2015 campaign. Rangers were expected to win the Scottish Championship, but fell far behind eventual winners, Heart Of Midlothian - worse yet, even another Edinburgh outfit, Hibernian finished ahead of the blues. Scoring only a handful of times, Boyd was a gross disappointment upon his one season reprise at Ibrox. However, during the man's first spell at the club from 2006-2010, he was a revelation, finding the back of the net hundreds of times and becoming the top scorer in Scottish Premier League history, even eclipsing the likes of Celtic's Henrik Larsson. Never the best runner with the ball, Boyd instead excelled by gleefully snapping up pretty much every chance that came his way, mixing tap-ins with beautiful strikes. Even though his final season at Rangers was far from a successful one, Boyd can look back on better times with the club, capturing the hearts of fans and becoming the greatest goalscorer of his generation. Key flaws my have prevented him from replicating his stunning domestic form in Europe, but in terms of Scottish strikers, Kris Boyd remains one of the most extraordinary.
