4 Liverpool Fans Who Flopped As Players On Merseyside

2. Rickie Lambert (June 2014 - Present)

Rickie Lambert's return to Merseyside seemed a little too saccharine for the Premier League, despite an excellent goal scoring record with Southampton, Lambert's "dream of playing for Liverpool" was also tempered with a touch of realism. He was signed to add depth to a squad lacking Luis Suarez, and despite the addition of both Lambert and Mario Balotelli, Liverpool have felt the departure of the Uruguayan across their whole squad. Despite injuries to Daniel Sturridge, Lambert has found his opportunities limited this season, operating primarily as an impact substitute. His return of two League goals all season paints a clear picture of a player struggling for form, Brendan Rodgers has shown a distinct lack of faith in the former Stockport man and Lambert's confidence has been subsequently shattered.
He is likely to move on from Anfield this summer, with West Brom rumoured to his most likely destination.(Source: Liverpool Echo) However, any transfer will be done with a heavy heart as Lambert had moved his family back to Merseyside in what he felt would have been his last career switch, but the harsh reality is that whilst Liverpool may be his home, he has struggled to find a home at Anfield.
