5 Goalkeepers In Line To Replace Victor Valdes At Barcelona

4. Marc Andre Ter Stegen

Germany's young hope for the future, Ter Stegen has been linked with the world's top clubs for his stellar performances for Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach, also proving that it's not only his name that's a mouthful! These performances for Lucien Favre's side have inevitably resulted in Barca officials giving him more than a passing interest, and the club are thought to have been monitoring the 21-year-old's situation closely. Should he arrive in Catalunya, the youngster can already claim to have made an enemy of star player Lionel Messi, who saw his penalty saved by the German in an international friendly between the two. One thing going in his favour is his similarity to the man he could be replacing, with his cat-like reflexes reminiscent of Valdes himself, who has saved his side's blushes time immemorial over the past few years. Touted as the next Oliver Kahn, Ter Stegen has a lot of hype to live up, and appears capable of coping with the expectation placed upon his young shoulders, and being at such a young age, Barca seem confident that he will be able to adapt to life in Catalunya should they decide to bid in the summer. The youngster is currently stalling on a new deal with Die Fohlen, leading to the Spanish side exploring the possibilities of a cheeky bid in the near future with his current deal set to expire in 2015.
