5 Lessons Learned From ONE FC 19

4. ONE FC Is Really Shaping Up To Be A New Pride

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QWNw5pkcGs "PRIDE NEVA DIE" probably makes no sense to you unless you're an old-school MMA fan. That's fine. It doesn't need to. Just look at it like this: Legends never die, and Pride was made up of legends. Dan Henderson. Vitor Belfort. Chuck Liddell. Rampage Jackson. Wanderlei Silva. Cro Cop. Mark Hunt. Little Nog. Big Nog. Alistair Overeem. The Last Emperor, Fedor Emelianenko. All of those fighters were Pride fighters, and a lot more. They were the best in the world at a time when Pride was the consensus number one MMA promotion, and the UFC was second. Perhaps even a distant second. Things all turned around in the mid 2000s, but Pride is still a huge deal in the MMA world despite being defunct for years. Now ONE FC is turning back the clock. It's not just the soccer kicks either. It's not even that they're based in Asia. It's the way they stage fights. The ring entrances, that have become so business-like in the UFC, are a little more open. The fighters are all introduced at the start of the event and do face-offs, just like Pride was known to do. Hell, they even have the same announcer wailing away over the P.A. ONE FC knows a successful business model when they see it, and they know that nostalgia is a powerful thing; something that will make fans dig into their pocketbooks to revel in it.
