3. Shinya Aoki Looked Fantastic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBeWl3vLKJY It's a shame Shinya Aoki doesn't want to fight in the UFC, because frankly, he'd be fantastic, despite past struggles in North America. With Eddie Alvarez now in the UFC, Aoki is possibly the best lightweight fighter outside the promotion. In fact, Aoki, who headlined ONE FC 19 and quickly defeated Kamal Shalorus via rear-naked choke, hasn't lost since dropping a bout to Alvarez in Bellator in 2012. He has won six straight fights since then. And before Alvarez, Aoki's most recent loss was to Gilbert Melendez in 2010 - the same Gilbert Melendez who is coaching this fall's Ultimate Fighter 20, and fighting Anthony Pettis for the UFC lightweight title in December. Basically, Aoki can hang with the best of them and rarely loses except to the best of the best. Thing is, ONE FC pays Aoki well - he's gone on record to say that - and fighting closer to home is easily on his family life. So be it. It'd still be nice to see him there one day.
