4. Cristiano Ronaldo
Now, I know what youre thinking, but thats not a typo. Even though he can be known as a massive winker on the football field, he has become quite the philanthropist off it. Included in the harrowing television footage that followed the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, was the report of an eight-year-old boy wearing a replica Portugal football shirt whod been stranded for 19 days after his family had been killed. Following this, Ronaldo himself visited Aceh in order to raise funds for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Indonesian province, auctioning off a ball, a pair of boots and several football kits. Ronaldo has continued to donate toward hospitals and other charitable causes, even reporting to have donated his 2011 Golden Boot to raise £1.5M for Palestinian children in Gaza. However, when giving away some of his own personal items isnt enough, Ronaldo is still willing to help, as in the case of 9-year-old Nuhazet from the Canary Islands. Battling cancer since before his second birthday, Nuhazets parents had been told by doctors that there was nothing further they could do for him. This story reached Ronaldos agent, Jorge Mendes, who then arranged for the whole family to visit Ronaldo before Madrids final match of the 2012 season. The next day, the boy was taken to Monteprincipe Hospital where he was put on a new course of treatment, including a personalised drug from the United States, with Ronaldo paying for the medical bills.
