5 Premier League Youngsters Roy Hodgson Should Have Picked For England Duty

1. Saido Berahino

West Bromwich Albion forward Berahino had been tipped for a senior England call-up of the back of great form for both club and the Under-21s, but missed out on selection this time. Should the 20-year-old continue his purple patch it is only a matter of time before Hodgson will take a look at him. Berahino, who was born in Burundi, but moved to Britain as a boy, has four senior goals in nine appearances this term and a frightening six in four at youth level. Playing up front or off the flanks his threat has been potent for the Baggies. Steve Clarke signed French veteran Nicolas Anelka to take on the mantle of departed loan star Romelu Lukaku €“ now at Everton €“ yet it is Berahino who has taken the bull by the horns instead. Goals have come in big games for him and Albion. Berahino grabbed the winner at the Baggies won at Old Trafford for the first time in 35 years: The Lions' current striking options largely pick themselves, but beyond the likes of Defoe, Rooney, Sturridge and Welbeck there is little competition. Berahino could yet crash the World Cup party.
