5 Reasons Cole Miller Is Off The Mark About Conor McGregor

2. People Aren't Drinking The Dana Kool-Aid

"I think when these people are spoon-fed what their opinions should be they start saying the same stuff they€™ve already been hearing from the UFC and the brass." - Cole Miller on Sherdog Radio. Well, here's an interesting one. Dana White has been known to attempt turning a sow's ear into a silk purse, then selling it to the UFC faithful. And nine times out of ten, they eat it up. Sonnen vs. Jones. Cummins vs. Cormier. The guy is the best fight promoter of his era, and he talks enough trash of his own to know how to dupe the fans along the way. Thing is, the fans have started to wise up (which is probably why some of the weaker UFC cards aren't drawing the way they used to), and on top of that - it's not the Dana White Kool-Aid people are drinking when it comes to McGregor. It's that he's actually backing up his words. When a guy says he'll win by knockout in the first round, then wins by knockout in the first round, there's not much you really need to hear from the promoter - all the talking was done in the cage. Then there's this little gem: "I did see something where Dana said Conor reminds him of Ronda Rousey. That€™s a pretty bold statement. I told my brother they€™re both blond. That must be it.€ Oh Cole Miller. You really don't see any similarity between fighters with brash, trash-talking personalities who go out and finish in the octagon? Think back to when Rousey was just taking off as a phenomenon and there are definitely some parallels. Constant press coverage, talk show appearances, and a successful first headlining event in the UFC? Why yes, those are all there - and though McGregor's event was a Fight Night, he's also not a champion.
