5 Reasons Leeds United Should Be A Premier League Club

2. History

A club with a history like Leeds should not be playing in the second tier of English football. Fans of rival Championship clubs like Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers may argue that because I've identified this as a reason then the same should be done for them. Unfortunately no, Leeds is a bit different. Leeds have a very recent history. It's been 10 years since they played in the top flight but you don't have to go back much further to find the glory days. Not so long ago they were a Champions League club. Not just a club that played in the group stages and went home early either, they reached the semi-finals of the competition. They also did the same in the old UEFA Cup. That's my main reason. They've fallen badly and they shouldn't have been absent from the top flight for so long. They're a widely recognised club with a very proud and successful history. I'll also mention Billy Bremner and Don Revie, two legends. Yes they were before the Premier League era and yes you can probably identify similar figures within other clubs but that's not the historic reason as to why the deserve the Premier League. Recent history is.
