5 Reasons Ross Barkley Won't Leave Everton For Manchester City
2. Everton Football Club Loves Him
If there is one thing that cannot be denied, it is that Everton and their fans are hugely proud of Ross Barkley. After only one season of featuring in the first team, those on the terraces already love him, with many considering him an Everton great in the making. For many years those with an in-depth knowledge of the youth teams have held him in high regard, stating that he was under utilised by former manager David Moyes and should have been a permanent fixture in the first team much sooner than last year. Even Evertons fiercest of rivals have said the same. When Barkley went to the World Cup with England last summer, not many people would have imagined he would be sitting next to Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard on the team bus. The then England captain had some wise words for the youngster, advising him to stay at the Blues because there is nothing better than being a local lad playing for the team you support. While there is no denying that Gerrard had his head turned by Chelsea all those years ago, eventually he stayed at Liverpool and not many would disagree he could have won more if he had left Anfield and joined the Mourinho revolution. Barkley may very well find himself in a similar situation, but as Gerrard is alluding to, there is nothing better than being at a club that adores you and winning things with them, especially if it is your boyhood club.
