5 Reasons Why Chad Mendes Will Upset Jose Aldo At UFC 179

2. Cardio Advantage

A sinus infection is brutal to deal with, let alone fighting while having it. You look at many of his wins in the WEC, they€™ve gone to an unanimous decision. He would use his superior wrestling to manhandle his opponents into mentally giving up. I€™ve never seen Mendes€™ pace deteriorate at a rapid pace besides his fight against Lentz. Aldo is notorious for slowing down in later rounds. We€™ve seen it against the likes of Hominick and Lamas, where he€™s in control for three rounds and then begins to become ultra conservative. Many analysts and fans have spoken out about being sick of Aldo€™s defensive style. It can€™t be discounted that Aldo always has a tough weight cut to make 145 pounds. That also plays a crucial factor into why his pace slows down drastically in later rounds. With Mendes capabilities of smothering his opponent into defeat, cardio will play a significant factor if the fight goes into the third round.
