2. Where Now For Henderson
Smooth Benson Henderson was on top of the world heading into UFC 164 coming off 4 successful title defences all against tough world class opponents. However Hendersons reign atop the lightweight division hit a big buffer when he ran into the man who beat him for the WEC lightweight title nearly 3 years ago. Pettis now holds two wins over Henderson both in championship bouts which makes them extra tough for Benson who must feel like Pettis has his number. Where does this leave Henderson in terms of lightweight title rematch? Well first it is highly unlikely Henderson will be granted an immediate shot at regaining his championship. 2 losses to the same man dont scream give me a third fight Henderson will probably have to fight a few more times before he can get a shot at Pettis. He needs some big impressive wins in order to get over his first round submission loss. Pettis scored two highlight reel filling knockouts in his last two fights both flashy kick KOs that helped boost his chances of being named number one contender. Just winning by decision wont be enough for Henderson if he wants to reboost his stock as one of the pound for pound best in the world, over the next few fights he will need to pull out some big headline making moments. The road ahead does look tough for Benson but he is an incredible talent I can see fighting back and easily rising from this into title contention once more.
