5 Ways Yohan Cabaye Shows Crystal Palace Have Changed Forever

5. No More Looking Down

On May 1st, like a one month too late April Fool€™s joke, the first rumours of a possible move for Yohan Cabaye started to surface in the newspapers and on message boards. To the outside world, Palace and Cabaye made no sense whatsoever. Cabaye is the impossibly good looking midfield maestro and Palace are the well-meaning, slightly ramshackle cousin of the more illustrious London clubs €“ they are Onslow from Keeping up Appearances. At the end of it all, the simple fact was that Palace had ideas above their station and Cabaye would end up at Roma or Atletico Madrid and, after the dust had settled, Palace would sign Robbie Brady from Hull or Rudy Gestede from Blackburn. These players are Palace's level. But the dust settled and, like Daenerys with her baby dragons, Cabaye was standing tall-ish, because he's not that tall, hoisting up the famous red and blue shirt as a Palace player.
