6 Main Card Predictions For UFC Fight Night: Souza vs. Mousasi

1. Ronaldo Souza vs. Gregard Mousasi

Weight Class: Middleweight A fantastic rematch serves as the main event for UFC Fight Night 50, as Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza (20-3, 1NC) once again takes on Gregard Mousasi (35€“4€“2). When they first fought, at Dream 6, Mousasi took home the win via knockout from an upkick - can he do it again? Probably not, at least not via upkick. Jacare is seen my many to be the top contender after Vitor Belfort in the middleweight division, and he has definitely upped his game since the two fighters first met. Mousasi, meanwhile, is making his third appearance at middleweight in the UFC. He lost to Lyoto Machida in his debut, then choked out Mark Munoz back at UFC Fight Night 41, which they headlined. Both of these fighters are MMA veterans. Jacare has a sick submission game, but as he has proved last year against Yushin Okami, he can knock fighters out as well. Mousasi, meanwhile, is famous for bouts in Pride, Dream, and Strikeforce, and was the Strikeforce and Dream light heavyweight champion. He's got slick hands, and a fantastic submission game of his own, but his laid back style in the cage doesn't win him any points with the judges, and his best bet with Jacare is to finish once again. However (and this is the key point), Jacare today isn't the Jacare Mousasi fought back in Dream. We're calling Jacare by a late submission, fourth round. It's going to be a close fight however.
