In what, sadly, seems to be a rare showing of fan support in modern football, Tottenham's supporters appear to be 100% behind Erik Lamela, despite his under-performing first season with the club. Usually, when a player comes to a club for such a high fee and performs badly, the fans turn on him. In Lamela's case, the fans sympathise with the plight of a young man who initially struggled with such a drastic change in his life circumstances. As such, they are behind him and are excited about him showing what he truly has to offer the team - which is great. It helps matters when the player in question is so likeable - and that's something that Lamela has going for him. He is aware he didn't perform last year, is disappointed in that fact and is fully determined to show what he can do - not least to repay the fans' faith in him after a poor first season.
