6 Reasons Why Man Utd Are Struggling Under David Moyes

1. Tactics

In the wake of United's recent 2-2 draw with Fulham, then-Fulham boss René Meulensteen described United's tactics as "predictable" as he saw a dominating Red Devils launch 81 crosses into the box, which he said was easy to defend against. The result was described by Moyes as a 'new low' after seeing his side once again lack a cutting edge in the final third. Of course, it can take a a new manager time to get accustomed to the strengths and weaknesses of a new squad, and how best to employ these players in varying roles. That can't be an excuse, however, given the success that José Mourinho had in his first year at Chelsea and that of Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City this season. But Moyes' inability, so far, to find an effective system has been a reason for United's struggle, and out of the reasons listed so far, the one he can be most held accountable for. Obviously, as mentioned, he has had injuries to deal with and perhaps hasn't got the strongest squad that he would hope for, but he's failed, thus far, to get the best out of the team, even at times when he has had the majority of his star names available. The Fulham game being a prime example. Managers need to be given time, it's no good getting rid of them willy nilly, but it's something that Moyes will need to get right as soon as possible if he is to see out the remainder of his six year contract.
