7 Concerns About Anderson Silva's UFC Return

2. Limited Opponents

Just how many opponents are available to Silva? GSP is officially retired. Avoiding contenders will be hard. Cung Le was beat up pretty bad by Michael Bisping. Bisping himself, often mentioned as an adversary, is focused elsewhere, and always seems to think he's a fight or two away from the title. Silva's last win came against Stephan Bonnar, an outclassed light heavyweight. That was in 2012. Bonnar now fights in Bellator. Silva won't set foot in the octagon til 2015. The list of options for him at this point is extremely limited, and do you really want to see him on a sort of old folks/seniors tour of the middleweight division, knocking off guys past their prime?
