7 Most Bizarre Injuries Which Kept Footballers Out Of Action

5. Leroy Lita

One of the more unknown injury stories from English football comes in the shape of former Reading and Swansea striker Leroy Lita.

The forward was in his prime during 2007 with Reading and was all set for a run after hitting the goal trail at the beginning of the season. However, it was not to be for Lita, who did himself serious damage in the most innocuous of circumstances.

While harmlessly lying in bed, Lita simply went to stretch one of his aching muscles, before feeling a sharp twang in his leg, and agony kicked in. Lita had pulled something down the back of his thigh, ruling him out for some four weeks of action.

His manager at the time Steve Coppell did see the funny side to an extent, but was left reeling by the news his star striker would miss the opening month of the campaign.
