8 Crazy Times Premier League Managers Went Nuts

What's cooler than ice cool? Well, not these guys, that's for sure...

Behind every great team is a great leader, but often behind that great leader is a vicious temper that is just waiting to erupt. With flare-ups all too often happening on the playing field as players battle with their own egos as well as their opponents, it is the man in the dugout who is meant to be the calming influence. But they're generally the same kind of animal as their players, and sometimes they just can't help themselves and take things that little bit too far. With so much at stake, the pressure on the shoulders of a manager at either end of the Premier League table is intense and every now and then they let their guard slip. Whether it be during the game or at a press conference, directed at their team or the opposition, some gaffers have been known to let their feelings known in a way which is bound to fill them with regrets. So who has come out worst in these showings of emotion? Who has tarnished their reputation and who has become a laughing stock?

8. Joe Kinnear's Incredibly Bizarre Spell At Newcastle United

Newcastle's appointment of the former Wimbledon manager in 2008 certainly raised a few eyebrows. He had been out of the game for a long time and the Magpies were in turmoil. However, it didn't take long for Kinnear to make his presence known in all the wrong ways. Unhappy with how the media had portrayed him since his appointment, he went on an abusive tirade in his first appearance for the Magpies in front of the media, calling out journalists and making his feelings well and truly known. Two who he was particularly unhappy with were Simon Bird - who he called a 'c*nt' - and Niall Hickman who was told quite bluntly to 'f**k off'. And the veteran manager continued his tirade, with obscenities being launched in all directions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_NQqnc_ue0 His spell at Newcastle was short-lived because of health issues, but his rant will go down in history as one of the most ridiculous press conferences in Premier League history.
