The signings of both Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano were an unbelievable coup for the Hammers when they joined in 2006. The pair had both been chased by Manchester United along with many of the European giants. It did seem strange then, that they would choose West Ham to sign for. As more information was revealed, it turned out they were both owned by a company known as Media Sports Investment, who were plotting a takeover at Upton Park and the excitement soon fizzled out, along with their West Ham careers. Still, it was great while it lasted wasn't it?
