This fight was actually being discussed prior to this past weekend's UFC 196 card, which is why St. Pierre was in attendance for the event. McGregor vs. GSP would be the biggest money fight that the UFC could put together. Both men are the biggest pay-per-view draws the company has ever had. So putting them against one another would unquestionably draw a huge buy-rate. Many, including myself, would argue that McGregor made a huge mistake by going up two weight classes to fight Nate Diaz. So taking a fight with an all-time great at the very same weight class that he lost to Diaz at probably wouldn't be the smartest thing for McGregor to do. It would also be a horrible match-up for McGregor stylistically due to GSP's incredible wrestling ability, and McGregor's lack of skill on the ground.
