8 Reasons UFC Legend Georges St. Pierre Should Stay Retired
5. Disrespect From The Promotion
The second he decided to walk away from mixed martial arts while still a UFC champion, the promotion began to disparage Georges St. Pierre. UFC President Dana White criticized GSP getting the win in his final fight (it was a close bout, but not nearly as controversial as some decisions). They also barred the champion from attending the post-fight press conference, despite him being willing and able to do so. Then, they claimed he didn't attend because he had been taken to hospital. Simply put, the promotion was irked that their champion suddenly decided to walk away, while still holding the belt. And they besmirched him as a result. Even with the comeback talk heating up, Dana White has seemed dismissive of one of the biggest stars in his company's history, claiming the Canadian fighter should stay retired if he needs to have a training camp to judge where he's at. Because taking things slow is, to White, problematic for some reason.
