8 Reasons Why Man City Will Be Pep Guardiola's Biggest Test

3. The Press In The UK Are Ruthless

Whilst many managers will argue otherwise, the pressure of the UK sporting press is rabid unlike anywhere else in European football. This is the same press that caused Kevin Keegan to falter so spectacularly in the 95/96 season at Newcastle. Similarly, Rafael Benitez folded under pressure from the press during his time at Liverpool. The moment a team hits a bad patch of form, or frailties develop within a dressing room, the tabloids have a reputation of tearing apart the men in the hot seat at their respective teams.

After he's arrived in Manchester come summer time, Pep will have to take a weekly press conference before each game where journalists will unreservedly pick him apart if results aren't going his way. City themselves have had to contend with this feral probing this season with the up and down form of Raheem Sterling; the most expensive English player in the game.

Guardiola is notoriously thin skinned, and highly sensitive to criticism, so it would be interesting to see how he reacts should the Manchester City plan not take off immediately as expected. With such high expectation for Guardiola's arrival, the press will be just waiting for a slip up to pounce on; and with that we'll be able to see how well Manchester's newest arrival can handle the pressure of managing in the Premier League.
