8 Ridiculous Celtic Rumours That Never Happened

4. Turning Down Didier Drogba

If you look at this in the context of 2003, you might forgive Celtic for their hubris in not signing Chelsea hero Didier Drogba. At the time The Drog was banging in the goals for Marseille having moved from Guingamp, but Celtic had their own formidable front line of John Hartson, Chris Sutton, and of course, Henrik Larsson. Even though this trio didn't last much longer, it's easy to see why Celtic probably wouldn't have been interested in another striker coming in from the French league. Of course, they never got to make that decision as Drogba initially contacted then-Celtic winger Momo Sylla who told him that his chances of getting a game at Parkhead were so slim that he wouldn't even bother getting in touch. (Just in case you were wondering who you needed to blame for that one.)
