Oh yes. That Rivaldo. Often remembered more for his ridiculous dive against Turkey in the 2002 World Cup, Rivaldo was rumoured to be making a spectacular move to the green and white hoops in 2004 after running down his contract with AC Milan. That's right, Rivaldo, whose contribution to world football puts him up there in the pantheon of Brazilian greats almost signed for Celtic. He had been offered the chance to become Bolton's latest big name project but looked North of the border to Martin O'Neill for the chance to make Celtic his new home. Yes folks, this one almost happened. Rumour has it that talks were at an advanced stage until O'Neill told Rivaldo's agent that he would need the samba superstar to undergo a trial at the club to ensure that he was still up to scratch. After making only 22 appearances in 2 seasons at Milan you would be forgiven for thinking that this would be standard practice but Rivaldo's agent immediately pulled out of any deal calling O'Neill's offer of a trial "an insult to football".
