8 Ridiculous Rangers Rumours That Never Happened

8. Robbie Savage Signing

Professional gob merchant, licence fee drain and self-aggrandising idiot Robbie Savage has his outspoken moments but all fans of the Gers must have been cringing into their cereal when they heard this one. Savage, who likes to tell people that he's part of Manchester United's lauded Class of '92 (despite being released as a youth player), decided to compound Rangers' woe by promising to come out retirement and play for them when they were relegated to the 3rd Division.
€œAgain, I€™m deadly serious about the offer. I was sitting at home bored the other night and got thinking about Rangers and what I could offer. I heard they were short of players so I put something up on Twitter and €“ bang €“ it all went berserk. I know Ally from working together at tournaments such as the World Cup. We got on well and my offer is genuine and sincere. I have media commitments most Saturdays, including my 606 show on Five Live, that keep me in England but I€™d be free most Sundays as well as other times of the week."
Rangers fans will doubtless be delighted that their relegation to Scotland's 3rd Division didn't involve them calling on the services of a then 37-year-old Savage who was little more than a plodder in his heyday.
