The Swiss defender burst onto the scene when McClaren was forced to throw him in at the deep end against Chelsea in September. The 20 year old has been a rare positive in a very poor season and could still have a lot to offer as he returns from injury. In the few appearances he has made for the first team, Mbabu hasn't looked out of place at all and has kept a lot of top players at bay - most notably Chelsea's Pedro (something no-one in the current starting line-up could do in the last match) - and fans will hope that he can be an important piece of the jigsaw as the season draws to a close.
