9 Unfortunate Premier League Records No Player Wants

5. Worst Penalty Conversion Rate Ever*

In the right hands, a penalty can be a game changing event that shifts the tide of an entire match, but some players shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a penalty taking role. With that being said, there is a runaway ‘winner’ for this record and the title falls to Juan Pablo Angel.

In his career, the Colombian forward spent six seasons in England, all of which were with Aston Villa. Although he scored 44 goals for Villa, the bulk of these were not from the spot.

In fact, Angel missed the same amount of penalties as he scored, leaving him with a penalty conversion rate of just 50%. Angel left Villa for New York Red Bulls in 2007, before venturing to a handful of other American teams and retiring with boyhood club Atletico Nacional in 2014.

*Only players who have taken ten penalties or more were counted for this record.
