Arsenal 1-3 Bayern Munich - 5 Things We Learned

5. The Trophy Drought Will Continue

ArsenalBus It has been seven years, eight months, 29 days, 18 hours, 26 minutes and 56 seconds as this goes to publication since Arsenal last won a trophy. How can I be so precise? Thanks to a website which gleefully displays said fact. Arsenal's lack of success over the last decade has been one of the biggest running jokes in football but the problem is, it's not actually funny anymore. You almost find yourself feeling sorry for Arsene Wenger as he watches helplessly from the dugout as yet another of his seasons goes up in smoke. Last night's disaster against Bayern Munich was almost an inevitability, as is the fact that Wenger will be taking Arsenal into an eighth year of famine under his stewardship. Even the most optimistic of Arsenal fans would struggle to build a case to suggest the Gunners have any sort of chance at the Allianz Arena in three week's time. They need to score three unanswered goals and apologies for being blunt here but that simply ain't gonna happen. Ever.
