Arsenal: 5 Reasons Why Wenger MUST Deliver A Trophy This Season

3. Attracting Quality Players

David villa The summer transfer window is a time for hope and optimism for football fans. Aided by beer they can let their imaginations run wild with fevered speculation about which superstar will be joining their club. (Messi to Sunderland? You€™ve had enough John!) But over the last seven transfer windows a sense of anticlimax and disappointment has blown over the Arsenal supporters like a cold Russian front. Since the end of the 2005 season Arsenal have bought the likes of Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson, Mikael Silvestre, Sebastian Squillaci, Park Cho Young, Marouane Chamakh and Andre Santos. That is a list of players that would send a shiver down the spine of even the most ardent Arsenal fan. Many could argue financial constraints are to blame but with Arsenal posting record profits every year and the board telling the media Arsene Wenger has money to spend that argument doesn€™t quite ring true. There a lot of clubs that pay big wages but only a handful that actually compete for trophies every season. These are the clubs top players want to join. It€™s highly likely Arsenal are going to finish the Premier League some distance behind the winners which means that Arsene Wenger will need to strengthen his squad this summer but finding new players who can add to the squad and want to come to Arsenal is now getting very difficult. If Arsene Wenger wants to stand any chance of being in the running to sign some world class players then Arsenal need to win a trophy and show the world they are still a big club.
