Arsenal Transfers: 5 Last-Minute Signings For Wenger To Target

2. Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg)

I think that we would all agree that Kieran Gibbs has been one of Arsenal€™s better players this season with an average rating of 7.17, but it€™s often said that any squad is only as good as the competition within it. As far as left backs go, I€™m yet to be convinced that Nacho Monreal is the right man to push Gibbs, and his performance level certainly isn€™t up there just yet. Therefore, it may be an area that Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen even if it is not exactly a priority just at the moment. Ricardo Rodriguez is certainly a man in form just at the moment with an average rating of 8.09. In fact, only Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Franck Ribéry and Luis Suárez have performed better this season. Swiss defender Rodriguez is just 21 years old, and would be an excellent long-term investment for Arsenal. The Wolfsburg defender has showed quality in both defensive and attacking areas this season. From a defensive point of view, he has managed 3.1 tackles, 1.9 interceptions and 3.3 clearances this season. Attacking wise he has recorded 1.3 shots, 1.9 key passes and goes on 2.5 dribbles per match; the results of that quality is three goals and three assists this season.
