2. Squad Depth
Arsenal have a similar problem season in, season out, that they suffer injuries to key players whose available replacements are simply not up to scratch and cause the team to lose crucial games. The signing of Ibrahim Afellay would go a long way to solving this problem as it would provide excellent depth in the wing position which would give Arsenal the best possible chance of challenging for trophies. Currently, Arsenal only have Gervinho, Chamberlain, Walcott (who I will discuss later) and possibly Miyaichi that play as out and out wingers. Two of those players are still raw teenagers with little top flight experience; therefore it would be wise for the Gunners to invest in another winger, especially of Afellays calibre. Afellay would hardly be satisfied with warming the bench though; he would most likely be in the starting eleven for Arsenal and thus would be a serious improvement on the current players at Arsene Wengers disposal.
