1. Talented Player
First off, the obvious reason that Ibrahim Afellay is an extremely good footballer. He was one of Europes hottest properties in his time at PSV Eindhoven, with his form convincing Barcelona to sign him in 2011. He has made 41 appearances (despite injury problems) for the Netherlands national team and at age 26, looks to add even more. He is a proven performer for club and country and is blessed with enviable natural attributes. He is a naturally fast player which would make him suited to the pace of the Premier League and would be a real bonus for Arsenal in tightly balanced games. His main attribute is an arsenal of intricate tricks and skills which he utilises with aplomb, similarly to Newcastles Ben Arfa of QPRs Taarabt, and it is this talent which can really make him a match-winner. Aside from this, he is also an efficient winger, capable of delivering accurate crosses or cutting in to shoot from range. The last player to move from the fringes of the Barcelona starting line-up to the Premier League was a certain Yaya Toure; and theres no reason to think that Afellay cant have a similar impact on the league. In footballing terms, Afellay would certainly bring a lot to the Gunners squad next season and would definitely be a celebrated signing for Arsenal.
