5. Pleasing the Fans
Finally, I think that the capture of Ibrahim Afellay could work wonders for the relationship between the club and its fans. Arsenal fans are waking up to fresh rumours every day, some linking them to various players which they dont eventually sign; others hinting at more and more stars thinking to leave the club. The mood amongst the Arsenal faithful is getting gloomier by the day, with the euphoria of signing Podolski and Giroud so early on now seemingly a distant memory and a small consolation. We football fans are a fickle species, and thus a signing of Afellays calibre, from a team which has caused Arsenal so much hurt over recent times would lift the mood around the fanbase dramatically. Suddenly, life as an Arsenal supporter would be rosy and everyone would be looking forward to the next season. In short, aside from being a great player, a reasonably priced replacement for Theo Walcott and a bargaining chip in the RVP saga; Ibrahim Afellay would be a cure to the Gunners fans blues. One question Arsene, what are you waiting for?
