Ashes 2013: Who Should Partner Alastair Cook As England's Other Opening Batsman?

Michael Carberry

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5j09TdPWME Having played for England from an U-15 level, every cricket fan expected Carberry to one day make the step up and have a flourishing international career. This has not been the case, and apart from the odd good performance for the England Lions, he has never staked a strong claim to be a regular in the test match side. He got his chance after being picked for a test match against Bangladesh, but failed to impress. A prolific one-day player, Carberry has also been known to construct big innings' in the longer formats of the game, with a top score in first class cricket of 300*, suggesting he is highly capable of making the transition. I think he would be a worthwhile replacement for a struggling Compton, however I do not think Geoff Miller and co will agree...
