Ashes 2013: Who Should Partner Alastair Cook As England's Other Opening Batsman?

Varun Chopra

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWgiahcBym4 Having captained the England U-19s and established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet for his club Warwickshire, big things are expected from Varun Chopra. Aged 25 now, he is a solid and charasmatic opening batsman and has built up an impressive average in first class cricket. A less defensive player than Compton, he would have been my initial pick to fill the void left by Andrew Strauss, however Compton got the nod. Now that Compton is struggling at the top of the order for England, I think it is Chopra's chance to push on, have a good county season, and stake his claim to get the call up to England test duty.
