Aston Villa 0-2 Spurs: 5 Key Things We Learned

2. Soldado Is Finding His Feet

Finally, Roberto Soldado scored a Premier League goal from open play - at the eighth attempt. The Spanish superstar striker scored the two penalties that gave Spurs victory in their two opening Premier League matches this season - against Crystal Palace and Swansea respectively - and he has managed to score a couple from open play in the Europa League, but this goal will come as a huge relief and will surely allow him to kick on and progress with more goals from here on in. He took his goal wonderfully, latching on to a deft Paulinho through ball, taking a superb first touch and calmly side-footing past Villa's Brad Guzan to round up the scoring for Spurs. It was an all-round good performance from the striker and the Spurs fans were singing his name. He received a standing ovation when he was substituted and hopefully he now has the impetus to keep scoring on a more regular basis.
