Can Liverpool One Day Overtake Manchester United?

So no, Liverpool can't continue relying on Gerrard to get them out of a hole for too much longer, but they do have very promising replacements. If they can make a marquee signing in January, possibly recall Carroll from his season-loan at West Ham, then along with Suarez and Borini, Liverpool will have something of a forward line again. It isn't too inconceivable that Liverpool can attract a world class forward in January. Whilst certain mega-stars move to clubs to chase a pay cheque, there are those who move to a new club because of the history it has, and Liverpool is steeped in that. I don't think it is inconceivable that Liverpool will win a Premier League title within the next five years. Manchester City and United are the two main forces at the moment, along with a rejuvenated Chelsea side, but whilst United have been winning titles seemingly forever, and as hard as it may be at the moment for City and Chelsea fans to realise that their ominious, seemingly limitless financial reserves won't bring the decades of success it may imply, all we have to do is look at the example of Liverpool. In 1990, with an eighteenth title under their belt, the world, it seemed, was their oyster. They were the best team for miles. People claimed at the time they would go on to roll over more opposition for many more seasons to come. Then came the hard times and a shift in the balance of power. That can, and probably will, happen again.
