Cardiff New Manager: 5 Replacements For Malky Mackay

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay is on thin ice at the Welsh club. Relations between Mackay and owner Vincent Tan are seemingly irreparable, after the 41-year-old insinuated he was looking to sign as many as three new players in the upcoming January transfer window. Tan was said to be €œextremely upset€ by those comments, while chief executive Simon Lim said last week that €œnot a single penny€ will be made available for signings in the New Year, with the Cardiff hierarchy publicly refusing to back the manager. That was swiftly followed by Tan handing Mackay a deadly ultimatum - resign or be sacked - and though that has since been lifted, it is still ill treatment of a man who, earlier this summer, led the Welsh outfit into the Premier League for the first time in their history. Mackay has been granted a stay of execution at Cardiff City Stadium after admirably refusing to walk out on the club, but you get the feeling his departure is only a question of 'when'. And, when said time comes, so too will the time to look for a successor for the Scotsman, with several names already in the frame to take over. Here, we take a look at 5 Replacements For Malky Mackay.
