Despite Roman Abramovich offering Pep Guardiola "total control" over Chelsea's transfer policies and day-to-day running of the club*, it is unlikely that these luxuries would have been afforded to the Spaniard at Stamford Bridge. It is also debatable as to how much influence Abramovich has with team selection - after spending a whopping £50 million on Fernando Torres, the Russian owner seems to refuse to accept defeat that the striker simply hasn't justified his price tag by sticking with the expensive flop.
