5. Bastian Schweinsteiger
The winger-turned central midfielder is perhaps as close to a like-for-like Frank Lampard replacement as you're going to get. Dubbed "the brain" of the German national team by his coach Joachim Löw, Schweinsteiger is a tough-tackling midfielder with a keen eye for a pass, sound familiar? He has been an integral cog in Bayern Munich's Bundesliga-winning machine this season and is but one reason why Jupp Heynckes' men have strolled to this season's German championship. Considered the most natural successor to Lampard, Schweinsteiger would fill many of the gaps left behind by the Englishman in the Blues' midfield and would provide a comparatively lightweight engine room with a bit of much needed steel. However, he has been at Bayern his entire career, and it would be a tough ask to prise him away from Germany.
