There's also rumoured uncertainty surrounding his future at the club after news surfaced late last year that he would reject a new contract after becoming frustrated with a lack of playing time, with Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young given preference even before his injury spell. Chelsea could therefore be tempted to snap up the unsettled United star particularly as their midfield is going to lack creativity when Frank Lampard eventually moves on.
