Crystal Palace 1-0 West Ham: Premier League Player Ratings

Crystal Palace got their third victory of a difficult Premier League campaign thanks to Marouane Chamakh's late first half header against West Ham €“ the club he spent the second half of last season on loan with.

A scrappy, but welcome, win for the Eagles on Tony Pulis's home debut in the dugout moved them off the bottom and level with 18th placed Fulham. The South Londoners are now just three points from safety. Palace manager Pulis kept faith with the same XI that started defeat at Norwich last time out. Cameron Jerome, who he coached at Stoke City, thus retained his place in attack. Hammers boss Sam Allardyce meanwhile rotated his fullbacks and promoted the subs that sealed victory over Fulham last time out into the starting XI. Joey O'Brien and Razvan Rat replaced Guy Demel and George McCartney. Carlton Cole and rising star Ravel Morrison were also included as Matt Jarvis and Modigo Maiga made way. Defeat for West Ham here left them just three points above the relegation zone. Unable to break down a stubborn rear-guard action by the Eagles meant they remained inconsistent.
